How To Be Better Tomorrow Than You Are Today

There has never been a perfect human being. We’re all flawed, all a mess of conflicting emotions and 
contradictions, all wondering if we’re doing the right thing or not. As such, trying to be perfect is a futile 
task; it’s a quest that won’t lead anywhere, and will cause much undue suffering on the person who’s 
trying. While we can’t be everything, there is one thing that we can do, and that is to be better tomorrow 
than we are today. By making subtle improvements to ourselves, we’ll become the best version of 
ourselves - and that’s all that anybody can ask. Here’s how you do it.


Make A List

If you want to be a better person, then first you’ll need to figure out what that’ll exactly look like. Which 
areas of your life, and which areas are you not? Make a list of everything that currently defines your life. 
You probably didn’t know some things are even part of you, until you saw it down on the page. Now that 
you’ve got an overview of your life, divide them into “good things” and “bad things” (these are defined by 
you). With that, you’ll know which things you need to cut out of your life. Bigger and better things await!

Don’t Be Defined By the Past

We tend to get caught in a cycle of negative thinking, and most of it stems from the past. If we were 
irresponsible or “bad” growing up, then we tend to think we’ll be that way forever. But every day provides 
a new opportunity for change. There’s no reason to be defined by the actions of the past; it’s gone, 
there’s nothing we can do about it, so let it go. Instead, focus on the here and now, and look to the future.
 Those are the things that you can influence.

Focus on your Health

It’s easier to become the best version of ourselves when we’re healthy in mind, body, and spirit. Which 
things in your life are contributing to an overall unhealthy figure? If you’re a smoker, then switch out to 
an Aspire Tank, and go smoke-free. If you’re a heavy drinker, find ways to cut down your alcohol intake. 
If you just don’t do any exercise, find an activity that you enjoy - there’s more to being healthy than going 
to the gym. You can focus on your mental health, too, by practising yoga or mindfulness.

Helping Other People

It’s easy to get wrapped up in ourselves. We’re the main star in our life, after all! But there’s real merit to 
thinking about other people from time to time. Giving back to people who are in need is a great way to 
boost our self-esteem, help others, and make the world a better place. Anyone with interest in becoming 
the best version of themselves needs to spend some helping others to become the best version of 
themselves. This can be via volunteering, acting selflessly, or just giving a compliment every now and 


Setting a Goal

It’s easy to get bogged down in all the tasks we need to take care in life. But if we’re always 
overwhelmed by modern life, we won’t be able to plot our path towards bigger and better things. To do 
that, we need to make goals. These don’t have to be overly ambitious; just something that we can hold 
on to as an anchor. The ripple effects of setting a target that’ll improve your life, and then working hard 
to achieve that goal, will have a big change on how you are as a person - in a good way, of course.

Being at Peace

Life isn’t easy. We’re pulled in a million and one directions, and it can be difficult to know which way to 
turn. In the process, we often find it difficult to locate that “inner peace,” the level of contentedness that 
we need to be comfortable in our skin and willing to be the best version of ourselves. There is, 
unfortunately, no golden rule to achieve this end. Everyone’s journey is different. However, it is well 
worth finding out what makes you at peace, and making sure it’s in your life. It could be spending time in 
nature, diving into ice water, or simply spending your evenings listening to music with a few lit candles. 
Everything’s much easier when you’re at ease!

You’ll never be the best human ever, but being the best version of yourself? That is achievable if you 
work towards it.
