Fun Ways To Give Your Kid The Coolest Bedroom Ever

In our adulthood, as we become increasingly occupied by the quotidian worries and necessities of
grown up life, it’s all too easy to forget that being a kid was no picnic either. Sure, we didn’t have to
worry about covering the mortgage, keeping a balanced stock portfolio or making car repayments,
but we had other, different problems to contend with. The inherently hostile environment of school,
the uncertainty of our impending adolescence, those early and formative heartbreaks and the uphill
struggle that was maintaining our popularity in a capricious social circle… There was a lot to get
stressed out by when we were kids. Thank goodness that we had a room to call our own. A space
where we could shut out the world and all its problems and relax in our haven of solitude. Not only
do our kids deserve a room of their own but they deserve a room that sparkles with the
same creative flair that we show in our living rooms.

If you feel like giving your son or daughter’s room a makeover this spring, here are some pointers that
will set their jaws dropping…

Pick a theme

Most kids are “into” something, and that thing will likely continue to be a formative aspect of their
personality for years to come. It could be sports, cars, superheroes, princesses or just about anything
that’s marketed to bright young minds these days. Their rooms likely already contain some
paraphernalia of this cultural phenomenon whether it’s dolls and action figures or wall posters.
Why not use that to tie the room together with a common theme. This will help to determine the colors
and textures you incorporate in your wall and floor decor, your furniture and your lighting.

Tell a toy story

Most young kids have a favorite toy or set of toys, and putting these in pride of place can help to tie a
room together. Try opting for an otherwise spartan room with a central shelf upon which they are
placed, drawing the eye to them.

Create an instant wow factor with a wall mural

If you’re looking for a fast and easy way to make your child’s jaw drop, a wall mural can be a great
way to do this. You can browse for ideas right here. A wall mural has a transformative effect on a
room and can instantly transport your child to the world of their favorite Disney characters or
superheroes. If waking up with Bambi or The Avengers every day doesn’t put a smile on their face,
nothing will.

Keep it chilled

By all means bring a sense of fun and adventure to the proceedings but remember that this is also a
space for relaxation and solitude, and a space that they will grow into over the years. Thus, you should
fill the room with furniture that is comforting in its fabrics and finishes. There should be a space that’s
dedicated to rest, relaxation and quiet contemplation even if the rest of the room is fun and adventurous.
