Why Do People Detox?

Have you ever woken up in the morning and just not felt right at all? You might have a fuzzy head, a sniffly nose or a bad stomach. At any rate, something's not right - and you'd be right to think that. These effects might last the entire day, or disappear after a good shower. These effects? It is basically poison.
Don't worry though; you're not on the end of middle-ages style trickery. You haven't been poisoned by an heir, or whatever happened back then. You're simply not putting the right stuff in your body. Our body is a machine, and if we fuel it the right way, we will feel fine. However, if we clog it up with bad substances, it won't work well. This doesn't mean that you stop moving, but it means you feel ill.

A lot of the products we consume simply don't contain good things for us. Neurotoxins, chemicals, and man-made components make up a lot of what we eat, especially if what we eat isn't exactly healthy. Maltodextrin, corn-syrup, sugars - none of this stuff is harmful in moderation, but when they become a crux of our eating habits, we can get pretty toxic on the inside, and this isn't good in the long run. Not for us, nor our health.

This is why detox plans have been in vogue. It's why people detox. They might have consumed a lot of alcohol over the past few months; they might be eating badly. Simply put, they might be suffering internally! People detox to cleanse. There's a lot of hype about organics and natural products, and this is why detoxes succeed- because we are becoming more and more in tune with eating organically and sticking to natural diets. Stop drinking the soda pop and the fruit juices that contain high levels of fructose and start drinking plain, old fashioned water. It helps to take a bottle of mineral water around with you to pinch thirst cravings. Water has plenty of detox properties, but it’s not the only thing you can drink. Green tea also has a lot of anti-oxidants, meaning that there is a bit of choice when it comes to natural drinking.

When it comes to food, we want to consume as much plant-based products as possible. Plant-based food contains plenty of proteins to keep us going, but it’s also organic, clean and doesn’t leave anything behind.

Why do people detox? Because bad habits make them feel awful. When they say ‘no more’ they turn to a detox plan - but maybe instead of a quick fix, it should become part of a healthy lifestyle!
