Preparing Your Home Ready for the Winter

by , in
It may still be August, but it won’t be long until the days start to become shorter and the nights longer as the cold weather starts to creep back around. Even though here in the UK we don’t often get a lot of warm weather, the winter months can be significantly colder, with frozen pipes and draughts becoming commonplace for many homeowners. Thankfully, we’re at a time of year that’s perfect for preparing your home to be able to withstand the upcoming colder months, and there are many simple things that you can do to ensure that your house is a cosy haven of warmth, even on the coldest winter days.

Upgrade Your Heating

Upgrading your heating system is definitely a good idea when it comes to preparing your home for the winter, especially if your boiler, heaters and radiators are looking a bit worse for wear and haven’t been updated in a while. Upgrading your heating system not only means that you’ll be warmer at home during the winter months, it can also mean that you’ll save money on your energy bills over the winter due to a higher level of energy efficiency. For radiators, heated towel rails and more, see

Check Your Insulation

Since around a quarter of the heat in your home is lost through the roof, having good loft and wall cavity insulation when the winter months come around is absolutely vital. If your home already has insulation, it’s a good idea to have it checked before the winter to make sure that it is not showing signs of wear and tear or causing any unnecessary heat to be lost. Insulation in the walls and around the pipes in your home is also absolutely vital during the winter as this will help to prevent any pipes from becoming frozen and bursting during colder weather.

Clean Your Gutters

One of the biggest causes of leaks during the winter months is clogged gutters. As the summer starts to draw to a close, trees will begin to shed their leaves leaving gutters and drainpipes filled up with loose foliage. Once the blockage starts to become too much, water begins to pool, backing up into the guttering and leaking into the roof and down the walls of the house. Before the winter sets in, having your gutters thoroughly cleaned to ensure that they are free of debris is essential to prevent damage.

There’s nothing worse than a chilly draught when you’re trying to relax in your heated home during the winter, so make sure that you’ve checked the edges of your windows and doors for any cracks that draughts could sneak through. You can either get draught excluders or adhesive draught slips to cover the cracks and keep the cold air outside where it belongs, keeping you nice and warm and reducing the amount of energy escaping from your home.

It may not be winter yet, but it’s never too early to start making sure your home is fully prepared to be nice and warm when it gets cold outside.

Boardroom Etiquette

by , in
Hi girls ,

Since I'm all day in a office , I was thinking about all the changes in office behaviour over the years. If now it's a semi-casual place where you have your laptop , few personal things and work documents, back in the days offices were stacked high with paperwork , people smoked in there and spend a lot of extra time working.
In the boardroom etiquette , changes are good during the years . Or so I think.
In our days we can find all kind of furniture for our work place , Calibre Office Furniture has great boardrooms tables , office desks etc.

In my opinion , it's very important to have a decent behaviour at the office and all those changes during the years it's for that. Now if you smoke or drink at your workplace , you won't be seen good (maybe even fired).
Once upon a time meetings took place face-to-face , now we have skype and e-mails and we're always in a hurry. Ofcourse , it's better and quicker  to send an email than to have a meeting if it's not necessary.

I'm just curious how the boardroom etiquette will change in the next 20 years with all the new technology. Should be interesting.

Tips for Buying a Holiday Wardrobe on a Budget

by , in
Holiday season is in full swing and everybody seems to be jetting off here, there and everywhere for a week or two on the golden sands of an exotic country. Every year we dream of these summer months when sat in the office; the weeks where we can relax carefree with a cocktail in one hand and a book in the other. It’s no secret that holidays are expensive and it’s an unwritten rule that any holiday requires a brand new holiday wardrobe. The items bought are likely to be only worn on holiday as our British climate just doesn’t allow for bikinis and beach dresses all year round, unfortunately. So here’s some tips for buying a holiday wardrobe that won’t break the bank and leave some extra cash for the much needed winter coat in months to come.

Work Out Which Wardrobe Essentials It’s Worth Splashing Extra Cash On

When buying your holiday wardrobe, you’re going to need the essentials such as t-shirts, shorts and socks. In order to save yourself some money, use this guide to understand whether it’s worth spending more money on an item or buying it cheaper, depending on how long it will last in terms of general wear and tear. Usually shorts will last longer than socks, so spend more on a high quality pair of shorts and less on some basic socks.

Be Savvy in the Sales

There are various times during the year when sales are on, and the summer sales are a big one. These usually take place in high street shops and online from July to September, with items getting even cheaper towards the end of September when the summer season is over. Always check the sales first for any holiday wear, and be extra savvy by shopping for next summer in this year’s end of season bargains. Trust me, you’ll save a lot of cash.

Recycle Your Current Clothes

Don’t feel like you have to buy everything for your holiday wardrobe. A great way to save some money but still have plenty to wear is to reuse clothes from your last summer holiday, or even better, recycle your current clothes and make them summer suitable. If you’ve got an old pair of jeans that won’t last till the winter, get doing some DIY clothes altering and cut them down into a brand new pair of shorts. You don’t have to be a pro to make yourself a great new item for your summer holiday.
If you’re still struggling on a tight clothing budget along with paying for your fabulous holiday, don’t panic, The Money Hub will ensure that your summer goes as smoothly and comfortably as possible.
Once you know the ways to buy a great holiday wardrobe on a budget you’ll be set for life, and will look incredible on all those sun kissed holidays to come. So enjoy the beach and those cocktails, while looking fabulous!

Planning a Cheap Outdoor Wedding in Surrey

by , in
Surrey is a beautiful place for a wedding. The weather is nice most of the time, especially around

June to September. This means you can have a lovely summer or autumn outdoor wedding. If you

still think an outdoor wedding would be out of your budget, then this article is for you. In this article,

we are going to discuss how you can plan an affordable outdoor wedding in Surrey.

Set a Budget & Pick a Venue

When it comes to planning an outdoor wedding, choosing the right venue is half the battle. A good

outdoor venue should have everything you need for the special day, from a gorgeous landscape for

the backdrop to the right kind of dirt or ground surface to avoid potential problems. In Surrey, there

are a lot of gorgeous outdoor wedding venues to choose from.

Before you start hunting for Surrey outdoor wedding venues, however, it is important to have a clear

budget in mind. After all, you want the special day to be affordable. Take a closer look at how much

you can afford to spend on the wedding. Don’t worry; you will find a stunning venue that suits your

budget perfectly.

Work with Local Service Providers

To save more on the wedding, you can do most of the planning and organising yourself. You can ask

friends and family to help with the details. More importantly, work with Surrey wedding suppliers

that are close to the venue. Luckily, there are plenty of caterers, florists and other wedding services

in Surrey. There are plenty of great deals too!

All you have to do is go online and compare service providers and options. Take your time; in fact,

you should always invest more time and compare deals closely. You will be surprised by just how

much you can actually save once you look through discounts and special offers.

All-Inclusive Outdoor Wedding

Naturally, not every couple wants to plan an entire wedding without help. If you want to keep the

wedding planning process simple and save a lot of money – while still having a beautiful outdoor

wedding – then an all-inclusive wedding package is the answer. Once again, the internet is your

friend when it comes to finding the right package to go for.

UK Wedding Savings is one of the main sites you should visit as you search for wedding packages.

You will find a lot of great Surrey venues available, along with the wedding packages to choose from.

The packages you see on the site include everything, so all you have to do is pick the one that suits

you best.

One last tip I can give you is to pay close attention to details. Pick a date and plan ahead for the

special day. With the resources we just discussed in this article, you can have a beautiful outdoor

wedding at the venue of your choice without so much as a problem. You will also be able to keep

your wedding affordable; an outdoor wedding in Surrey doesn’t have to be expensive at all.
