Poker playing babes

 by  MichiganMoves
There’s a change going on in the top echelons of poker tournaments – and that’s that women are beginning to dominate the game.
So why is it that these women gaining a stronger foothold in the big games? Maybe it’s because their brains are hard-wired for the game. Maybe more female players are entering the competitions like the World Series of Poker because of the huge increase in the number of women playing online poker at sites like 32Red. Check32Red out here to see what variants of poker are on offer.
To get an idea of what kind of amounts can be won playing poker, we’ve listed some of the world’s top female poker players below:
Vanessa Selbst
Selbst is an American pro player who is recognised as the mostsuccessful female poker player of all time. Her tournament prize money totals more than $9 m, and there’s no sign of her quitting yet. In fact, she started 2014 with the PCA Super High Roller and landed $760,640. She’s currently ranked at no.8 in the world by the Global Poker Index (and that’s a male and female player list).
Annette Obrestad
The Norwegian poker talent started playing online poker when she was just 15 and allegedly she’s never deposited any cash into an online poker room. Instead, Annette built up her bankroll while playing freerolls – tournaments that you don’t have to pay to enter, but that have real cash pots to play for. She’s more often referred to as Annette_15 – her handle for online gaming. Annette has so far amassed more than $2.5 million in online wins and almost £4m in live poker events. Obviously she has plenty of time to catch up with Selbst, with years of playing ahead of her.
Jennifer Harman
Another early starter is Jennifer Harman, who reportedly played her first game of poker at the tender age of 8, having watched her father play plenty of poker. She’s already earned more than $2.5 million from playing poker, even with breaks from the game because of poor health. Jennifer has had two kidney transplants and does a lot of fundraising work for CODA (Creating Organ Donation Awareness). Harman is a regular face at the poker room in the Bellagio casino, Las Vegas, where the high stakes games have limits between $3,000 and $6,000. Jennifer has said that she can clear $1m a year from those games at the Bellagio.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to play poker, then the best place to get some practice in is online at one of the many sites that offer poker. When you sign up to a site, you’ll get some bonus credit to play with, as well as a number of entries to freeroll tournaments, where you can put the theory of the game into practice. You never know, you might develop a real poker talent like the ladies mentioned above.
